Tamil Actress Shriya Saran

Shriya Saran is an award-winning Tamil film actress. Her acting career had a modest beginning, starting with music videos and acting studios. She has since graced the Tamil film industry with her talent. She has signed on in various movie deals with Bollywood, Kollywood, and even Hollywood. Saran mostly graces the stage as a leading heroine in high-budget and major films. From romantic comedies, to drama, to science fiction, to action, she has set foot into just about every genre she can get her hands on. All this in only 9 years of acting!

Her very first Tamil film was Enakku 20 Unakku 18, a musical hit and general box-office success. She made a great comeback with Mazhai, another box office hit. She has outperformed many leading actresses in order to secure a role in upcoming hits such as Sivaji: The Boss, which is noted as the most expensive Indian film since Dasavathaaram. Saran is also a stage show actress, participating in Mani Ratnam’s stage show Netru, Indru, Naalai. The show is a fundraising effort for an organization that rehabilitates homeless women with mental illnesses in Chennai. Shriya Saran also modeled for fashion designer Neeta lulla at the Chennai International Fashion Week in 2009.

As stated before, Shriya Saran is also an award-winning actress. In 2009, Saran won the Mathrubhumi Amritha Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her role in Kanthaswamy. She also won an award for her performance in Sivaji; The Boss for Best Tamil Actress. In 2008, she received the Stardust Exciting New Face Award. She was also nominated for the Filmfare Best Telugu Actress Award, and the Filmfare Best Hindi Female Debut Award, in 2005 and 2007 respectively.

Shriya Saran is a veteran award-winning actress already, only nine years into her career. Every film Saran touches seems to turn to gold as she graces Bollywood, Kollywood, and Hollywood. It is safe to say that the Tamil film industry can expect great things from this new star.
